Starcraft's Space Marine and the Marines in 40k's main armies both have big guns with big cannons, and both are very large units that do not really have to worry about other units. Big cannons, big armors, big shoulder pads. Starcraft's Marines are basically big guns with big cannons, which makes them great in an offensive position but bad in a defensive position. The Space Marines on the other hand is designed for long-range combat and can be very effective at either position. There are several other differences between Starcraft's Marines and the other military units.
